We braved the local mall this afternoon to take the boys to meet the big guy, Santa. As we waited in line (for over an hour – bless your soul, Steve Jobs. Your iPad saved my sanity), we saw numerous parents clapping, jumping up and down, making goofy faces, throwing toys around, and (one really enthusiastic mom) jumping straight up in the air while making a high-pitched squeal – all in the name of getting that perfect shot of their little ones with Santa. I don’t know how successful any of these attempts were, but I do know – as a somewhat-experienced veteran of kid photo shoot – that you have to do whatever it takes to get the results you want. Most of the time those efforts are fruitless, Ā but we hit a huge home run today.
So, what was our method for picture perfection, you ask?
A Donald Duck bill that quacks when you blow into it like a kazoo. Yep. We were THOSE parents. We bought this obnoxious gem while on vacation, and it has served us well. We got a whole family shot (with 11 people – 5 of whom were kids) where the baby was not only LOOKING at the camera, but smiling. You’d better believe this bad boy will be accompanying us everywhere we go – you never know when you will need a spontaneous photo shoot. We have no shame.
You’re Welcome. And, good luck on all of your holiday photo endeavors.

Haha, that is ingenious!!
You better have brought me one of those home. My daughter is KILLING ME with the family photo shoots. At this rate, the dogs will be on our Christmas card instead of her.
You are welcome to borrow our duck face any time you’d like. It’s like magic! But, I think Sassy Ella is still adorable, so put her on the card!
